Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a sunday service?

A typical worship service at New Hope lasts about 75 minutes. We are not “mastered” by the clock, but we also understand the culture in which we live.

What is worship like?
Our worship time is approximately 25 minutes long. We sing contemporary worship songs by Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Hillsong, Elevation Worship, etc. Our goal is not to entertain, but to lead God’s people in authentic worship.
What is the preaching like?

At New Hope, we preach “expositionally,” which means book by book, chapter by chapter. The sermons are roughly 35-40 minutes long. We have two goals in preaching: theological truth and relevant application. There are always action steps to take home and implement into your life. Want an example? Check out past messages HERE! At the Bellaire Campus, we typically view the message live-streamed from the Traverse City Campus.

Where do my kids go?

Children from birth to age 3 are cared for in our nursery (in theater #2,) And kids age 4-12 are invited to head directly to the KidZone for worship and teaching geared especially for them (up the stairs behind the concession stand.)

All kids ministry volunteers have been thoroughly vetted, including a Michigan State Police background check.

What should I wear?

You’ll see a variety of styles at New Hope, everything from jeans to business casual. You’re welcome to wear whatever you’re comfortable in. After all, the Lord looks on the heart.

What age are the people?
We have a ton of kids at New Hope. Out of 100 people on a Sunday morning, likely 35 are elementary age or younger. But we also have a nice blend of all ages, young people through 90+. No matter your age, you’ll never feel out of place.
Can I take communion?
New Hope celebrates communion on the last Sunday of each month. We practice open communion, so, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ and recognize that your salvation is due to his broken body and shed blood, then we invite you to participate.
